Mid-February should be cold, with recurrent light snowfalls blanketing older snows.... One blanket of fresh, white powder over another.... It hasn't been that way, though. We're getting a fresh dump of wet snow today, and we need it: the campus has been a dirty, flooded expanse of mud, old snowbanks and huge puddles. Yesterday:

Despite the slushy conditions, we hosted a Lakes Region Varsity ski race at the Blackwater yesterday afternoon.

Mardi Gras was great. It is a holiday that has something to do with beads (lots of them) and New Orleans, but any religious underpinnings are lost on us. What percentage of high school students can identify the significance of Lent?
