If we asked kids to dress formally (as is common at many prep schools) they would resist by looking as slovenly as possible within the code. We do not ask boys to wear coats & ties and girls to wear skirts & sweaters, so...of course...they do. Note Alex's green blazer and pink cravat:

Somewhere along the line, students began dressing up on Fridays. They parade forward during assemblies and chide the community for not strutting its stuff. To confuse things, they call their homespun tradition "casual Fridays." Last Friday, they hailed Dan Peterson for looking sharp:

Now it's spinning out of control. Two dozen teachers showed up today dressed in all sorts of regalia, and more students appeared looking like models for Ermenegildo Zegna.

Today is Sam's 18th birthday, and his mom is worried that the black balloons she ordered haven't been delivered. Here's proof that all is well with Sam:
