Next week, we'll be busy with faculty meetings, department meetings and Orientation prep. Today, a Wilderness First Aid class is being taught in the Chapel, and a few other signs of life reveal the late date, yet the campus remains generally quiet.
In two short weeks, Wilderness Orientation and sports camps will be in full swing. Three hundred and sixty teenagers will be starting the 2013-14 school year at Proctor. It's interesting to consider the life experience they bring, given the fact that their lives began--in most cases--between 1995 and 1999.
Beloit College (IL) posts an annual
Mindset List that features amusing factoids regarding the life experiences of their incoming freshmen. For example, "With GPS, they have never needed directions to get someplace, just an address." As they shared the list with faculty, our College Counseling office also provided Beloit's
Mindset Guide For College Counselors and School Administrators. Interesting, and amusing stuff!
