These are the glory days of autumn...the days we anticipated from the first time we picked up the admission viewbook!
Nights are cold; days are warm; leaves are falling fast. It's not by coincidence that Fall Family Weekend is scheduled for the second week in October.
Parents and families arrive later this week to immerse in the Proctor experience.
What is it that they will experience? Many years ago, when Eva Mansell was Drama Director, she invited a professional actor and friend (whom many of us knew) named Jimmy Okino to the spring musical. At a reception following the play, I asked Jim a stupid question: "What did you think of the play?" Jim's response is still ringing in my ears, because it was a life lesson. He said, "I saw a lot of people working really hard." I will never forget that moment. What a beautiful, honest response! And what more do we want to see in education, than people (teachers and students) working really hard?
What will parents see this weekend? Lots of people working hard!
I'd also like for them to see a lot of people who are happy with the deal we struck; that hard work is balanced with fun learning.
This biology class is investigating population ecology by documenting longevity of Andover residents in the early 1800s.
I hope that parents see us working hard, because that's about the best we can do.
It's OK that our hard work transpires in these glory days!
