Fall Family Weekend brings hundreds of parents and siblings to campus, where they jump into Proctor life, attending classes, afternoon activities and even Polar Swim (I'm told)! Below, colonists debate British authorities in the 1760s.
Just outside, we're monitoring the effect of recent rainfall on the acidity of Proctor Pond.
Andrew Landers, Class of 2010, is back from college to help sister Abby '14 in zoology.
Students and faculty have organized several fundraisers for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program, including bake sales such as this one outside of our morning assembly.
To accomodate afternoon parent/teacher conferences, afternoon activities are moved up to late morning. The Woods Team breaks into three squads and competes in timed pull-sawing, axe-throwing and something called pulp toss.
In a final contest, the teams race to kindle a fire that successfully burns horizontal string tied between two stakes.
The field hockey team sports pink in support of the Making Strides initiative. Parents are encouraged to pledge dollars for total goals scored this weekend, as well as Proctor goals and team victories.
Fans show support!
With foliage peaking and a glorious weather forecast, we now enjoy a four-day weekend. The next Chuck's Corner will appear Wednesday evening, Oct. 12.
