Spirit Week
11/11/2008
The Admission Office is hosting forty families this week. From a distance, Proctor must look like another prep school.

On closer inspection, the community reveals effervescent spirit. Much of this is the product of the strongest student leadership in anyone's memory. Seniors--in particular--have thrown themselves into community action, conceiving and executing dozens of fun, healthy activities that have set a new standard (and a new tone) on campus. This is Spirit Week. Each day brings a new dress theme (pajamas yesterday, twins today), and innovative contests: broomball, Jeopardy!, tug-of-war, pie eating, etc. Here are our School Leaders, Duncan and Danny, observing "twins day".

The four grades are competing for points in all of this nonsense. For example, the numbers of sophomores in pajamas on Monday earned them hundreds of points.

The pajama dress code made for some awkward moments during a relatively serious sports awards assembly... Will and Danny await their plaques for MVP and MIP from boys varsity soccer coaches.

Hopefully, our forty visiting applicants can make sense out of all of this. Here are two sets of "twins" in Tuesday's assembly:

A group of twins posed for the yearbook camera.

For a school with a very distinct spirit, Proctor is not a school that talks a lot about it. Like "informality," or one of the core values (like "honesty") it's a matter of nature. One of these people is a professional employee; the other is an eleventh grader. You pick:

Basketball twins.
Beach twins.
Purple twins.
Sweatshirt twins.
Teeny bopper twins.
Let's see.... Harris is on the left; Connor's on the right.
Ultimate twins.
Doughnut eating twins.
Real siblings!
Real twins!!
