Saturday afternoon was cool and raw, with none of the violent effects of former Hurricane Noel, which was lashing everything east of us. (We're located at the red dot in the doplar image at right.) Teams from Berwick--which is close to the coast in southeastern Maine--couldn't travel, so we hosted only two games on campus. Here's Third Soccer, huddling before the start of their contest against the Junior Varsity squad from the smaller Dublin School.
The visiting team featured a few fast, explosive players, while the Hornets showed lots of depth. Here's William, who is tricky with his feet, while Evan calls from behind.
And here's William (mostly obscured, left,) scoring the first tally.
The green bees went ahead three-nil before Dublin scored twice to make it a fun finish.
Evan with a left-footed corner kick.
Drew is a wall on defense.
The usual fan-base of local parents was augmented by folks in from Chicago and Denver, and the team chanted "...thank you parents" in their post-game cheer.
Good game, good game, good game.....
And it was a good game. I apologise to JV Field Hockey for not capturing quality images to post today. I think I need a more powerful zoom!
