That was the school where....
The hundreds of students who revisited New England schools this past week now have a couple of days to get off the dime. Long after their decisions are made, they may reflect, "That was the school where....." Some will recall the school with the new sports complex....the heated turf field....the curriculum in Chinese studies. At one level, we want visitors to Proctor to appreciate the integral role of the experiential programs, the academic communication structures and the elevation of students in their relationships with adults. It may be, however--after Friday's assembly--that many will recall a school in which students and faculty performed a spontaneous retrospective on dance crazes through the decades. It all started calmly enough, with some jitterbug and swing:
I don't know how orchestrated other schools are in their presentation to prospective families, but we wouldn't be Proctor without the spontenaity and laughs. Here's crazy-legs Kellogg with a mid-sixties frug, (or is it the jerk?)
The entire audience was on its feet at the start of YMCA.
As so often happens, students stole the show. Alex and Kinley know how to disco.
Preparing to depart after lunch, one observant couple remarked, "We've been to a lot of boarding schools, but this was the most energetic."
And what is 'Kenz sampling in biology? Sushi?
