Registration Day
9/6/2005

Tuesday was Registration Day, and 115 anxious/excited new students arrived to negotiate room keys, laundry service, bank accounts, facebook photos and moving in. You are escorted to your dorm and bookstore by a day student tour guide:

Following a fabulous buffet lunch, welcoming comments and thoughts regarding Wilderness Orientation were offered by program director Brooks Bicknell and new Head of School Mike Henriques. Mike took us through some of the items in his backpack to point out that it is by going beyond our comfort zone that we really learn and grow.

Then the crowd ambled down to Farrell Field for the traditional lapsit.

Orientation groups average eight students, with two faculty and--in many cases--a returning student leader. The initial tasks involved--sorting and dividing food, reviewing clothing and equipment--provide a great opportunity to make new friends and conquer early jitters.
