This week's projects reflect the diversity of faculty interests and passions. Thirty-three teams (usually 11 or 12 students) are delving into radically different experiences under the guidance of (usually) two teachers. Off campus, they're touring Canadian and American cities, playing chess on The Vineyard, dogsledding and much more (to be explored when photos are received.) On campus, a dozen projects are building blanket boxes, practicing yoga, motorizing a reclining chair and much more. Below, Lindsay gathers maple sap at the sugarbush we're managing just east of the ski jumps on Blackwater Hill.
First the cold, sweet sap is skidded on a makeshift sled (outfitted with old downhill skis and powered by snowshoed students) to the Forestry pick-up truck.
In the upper lobby of The Meeting House, Eben delivers a kick to kenpo/martial arts master Ross Young.
This intrepid Animal Husbandry projecteers have just cleaned up The Barn before slaughtering and plucking fifteen chickens.
After an afternoon of sap gathering, five kids commandeered the sap sled and ended up bailing out when it became clear that steering and braking were impossible.
