Fall Food Review
11/29/2004

The first classes of the winter trimester were held Tuesday, so we have only a few hours before real-time sanity returns. In the meantime, let me present some images from recent weeks with one thing in common: food. Parent volunteers throw prodigious banquets during finals exams called "Brain Breaks." Here's Sam helping himself to the buffet:

During a recent Brain Break, I counted seven cans of soda on a table occupied by three girls (who--by the way--are doing the hokey pokey.)

Brain Breaks are usually held in the Ruby and Bill Wise Community Center, which is known now as "the Wise." One exception: last spring's ice cream wagon on wheels (known as a Brain Freeze,) moved around campus and set up in front of the Meetinghouse. These three, with blue Gatorade, are in the Wise:

In his Gannett House basement apartment, Derek Mansell teaches a Spanish class to construct enchiladas using salsa verde and--here--a complex mole poblano (pronounced MOlay pobLANo).

More than 20 parents volunteered to make the last Brain Break a success.
Bill and Perry (with Schweppes ginger ale) order up at the Wise.
Fritos for Chris.
Pretzels for Bruce.
Faculty staffed the Wise kitchen for one Sunday brunch. Ian hoovers French toast and sausages.
After daily assemblies, crackers, peanut butter and fruit are up for grabs at the Wise.
Nick assembles an enchilada on a Saturday morning.
Monitoring the yearbook staff grill at a football game.
Jake with apple juice. (I know, this photo appeared before--early in the year.)
Looking for a little dessert?
