One thing that we do very well at Proctor is start the school year. Yesterday, new students returned from five days of camping in the White Mountains. Experience tells us that--decades from now--many of them will recall this as their most powerful memory of Proctor.

In 1976, when I first went on Orientation, Bert Hinkley started each morning with an inspirational reading from Jerry and Renny Russell's classic On the Loose (Sierra Club). Twenty-eight years later, when his Orientation group unloaded from the bus behind the fieldhouse, one boy asked Bert if he could finish with one final reading.

Mike Walsh and Michael Koenig had a grill fired up so hungry kids could enjoy burgers and dogs for the first time in a week.

It's time to start another school year!

Alumni insist that Orientation is the most impactful experience of their time at Proctor.
It didn't take Topher long to figure out how to get on Chuck's Corner.
Others just ask.
This morning's on-campus orientation includes distribution of laptops.
School leaders Jake and Sarah speak at today's opening assembly, setting the tone for a great year.
I'm trying to avoid photos of Nick this year.
This afternoon, introductory classes met.
